The plain-English version: authors keep their rights and 100% of their sales revenue. Your membership is what you pay us. We review every book before it goes live. We do not sell your data. Cancel anytime.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

By using ownedaudio.com, creating an account, purchasing an audiobook, or joining as an author member, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. What Owned Audio Is

Owned Audio is an audiobook publishing and selling platform for independent authors. Authors pay a flat membership fee, publish their audiobooks, and keep 100% of their sales revenue. Listeners purchase audiobooks and stream them in the browser.

3. Author Memberships & Billing

Memberships are billed through PayPal on a recurring basis at the rate shown at signup. Founding member rates remain locked only while the membership stays active and in good standing.
You may cancel anytime in PayPal or by contacting us. Cancellation stops future billing; partial periods are not refunded. When a membership lapses, associated books may be unpublished from the store.
The Done-For-You service is a one-time fee covering manuscript prep, AI narration with a sample voice you approve, one round of corrections, and store setup for one book.

4. Author Content & Rights

You keep full ownership of your manuscript, audio, and all rights in your work. You grant Owned Audio a limited license to host, process, display, and deliver your content solely to operate the service.
You confirm you own or control the rights to everything you submit, including the text, cover art, and any voice used to narrate it.
Voice clones are created only with the documented written consent of the voice's owner.
Every submission is reviewed by a human before going live. We may decline or remove content that is unlawful, infringing, hateful, or below our quality bar. Declined books receive written feedback and may be resubmitted without penalty.

5. AI Narration Disclosure

Owned Audio welcomes AI-narrated audiobooks. Titles may indicate whether narration is AI-generated or human. AI narration is produced through third-party providers (such as ElevenLabs) under their applicable terms.

6. Listener Purchases

Audiobook purchases grant a personal, non-transferable license to stream the audiobook for personal use. Purchases are not for resale or redistribution.
Payment is processed by Square or PayPal; we never see or store your card details.
Digital purchases are generally final. If you cannot access your audiobook or something is wrong with it, contact us and we will make it right.

7. Acceptable Use

Do not use the service to infringe copyright, upload malicious files, scrape or resell content, harass others, or circumvent payment. We may suspend accounts that do.

8. Copyright Complaints

If you believe content on Owned Audio infringes your copyright, contact us via the Contact page with the work, the location on our site, and your contact details. We review all notices promptly and remove infringing content.

9. Privacy Policy

What we collect: your name, email, account details, purchase records, and any manuscript or audio you submit.
How we use it: to run the service: producing samples and audiobooks, delivering purchases, processing payments, sending service and marketing email (unsubscribe anytime with one click).
Who touches it: service providers we use to operate: Supabase (storage and accounts), Vercel (hosting), PayPal and Square (payments), ElevenLabs (narration processing), Kit (email), Formspree (forms). Each under their own privacy terms.
What we never do: sell your personal data or your manuscript, or use your manuscript for anything other than producing your audio.
Your choices: ask us anytime to see or delete your data via the Contact page.

10. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The service is provided "as is." We do not guarantee sales results, uninterrupted availability, or that AI narration will be free of imperfections. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Owned Audio's total liability for any claim is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms as the platform evolves. Material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date. Continued use after changes means acceptance.
